Extra Curricular Activities

Extracurricular activities
In addition to our regular curriculum, we have attempted to expand opportunities for students to engage in after school, enrichment activities. We have expanded our extracurricular activities this fall to include a hands-on exploration of science, opportunities to engage in community service, technology, and physical activities.

Science Club
MSMA and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences partnered for a unique opportunity.   Three students from their pharmacy program led the students in experiments to show chemical and physical changes of matter, liquid density, physics and engineering, and the polarity of molecules.  The scientists from MCPHS taught the students proper lab procedures and safety.  The twelve MSMA students who participated in the Science Club also constructed their own experiments which will be presented to the school during January.

 Lego League:
Three teams of students in grades 1-3 have participated in the Lego League.  There were over 17 students on these teams.  Students are presented with a theme and a challenge and need to use research, science, technology, team work and problem solving skills to complete the challenge.  This year’s theme was “The Body Forward” requiring students to research bio-medical engineering.  The students exhibited their projects at the UNH Junior First Lego League Expo in Hollis on December 11, with a celebratory lunch with Mrs. Pat and parents on December 15th

Gym Jam
We continue to promote healthy living by promoting an active lifestyle for children.  Gym Jam gives students an opportunity to engage in physical activities with friends after school with Amanda Davis, our Physical Education Teacher.  Students play their favorite games once a week for an hour after school.
